How to grow your business without getting the soul sucked out of you.
When it comes to being consistent in growing your business, I like to think of it like living a healthy lifestyle. It’s important to eat well and exercise, but too much of a good thing can go wrong. There’s no quick fixes and this is a marathon, not a sprint.
Setting up your baseline and goals are the first step to staying consistent; How will we know if we’re consistent or not if we don’t first decide how to measure that. And how will we know what success is if we don’t first define what it might look and feel like?
In terms of growing a business, I see my clients falling into the habit of black and white thinking; Either they’re posting and marketing ALL the time or not at all. And once they get into a rut of not showing up, it makes it even harder to come back because of the added layer of shame and pressure we put on ourselves.
Instead of jumping all in and aiming to market yourself EVERY day, start with twice a week. Once that becomes a habit, try adding in more. Even as you add more in, it’s important to plan for breaks.
Just like someone needs a rest day and you can’t be on a fad diet forever, you can’t constantly be growing your business. It’s just not sustainable.
In the end, if you take any advice in staying consistent with your business goals, it’s to not expect time to find YOU and to always be compassionate to yourself.
Growing your business shouldn’t suck the soul out of you; It should feel good. And what feels good for ME might not feel good for you.
Trust your intuition and know that YOU are the expert on you.
